Applications open for the Future Female Founder scholarship

On 28 October, Froda opens applications for the fifth edition of its Future Female Founder scholarship, a SEK 100,000 scholarship for women who are about to start a business or who launched one within the past year.

Women make up around 30 percent of business owners in Sweden, which is below the EU average. Since 1980, that share has grown by just one percentage point. Froda created the scholarship in 2022 to help change that, by giving women the backing to turn an idea into a business.

‍

The scholarship is awarded to one female founder each year. Past winners include Miranda Matti (Lexflix), Janna Naser (Alga Insulations), Linda Alexandersson (Maybe Baby) and Sakina Turabali (Trustberry).

‍

“Sweden has done a lot right on gender equality, but female entrepreneurship hasn’t caught up. We’re still below the EU average. The next generation of founders needs both the push to start and the role models to follow. This scholarship is about giving women the backing to turn their ideas into businesses,” says Olle Lundin, CEO and co-founder of Froda.

‍

Applicants must either have started a business after 1 January 2026 or plan to launch one within the next year. Applications are open from 1 November to 31 December 2026, and the winner will be announced at an award ceremony in March 2027.
