Since 1996, Uluç Telmen has built Halv Grek Plus Turk, a restaurant that blends Greek and Turkish flavors from the Eastern Mediterranean. With a focus on simplicity and quality, Uluç has created a unique space where mezze dishes and interior design reflect his personal background and creativity. The restaurant has faced challenges, including a fire that led to financial difficulties, but with the help of Froda, Uluç secured the necessary funding to recover and grow.

He is optimistic about the future and plans to expand with another restaurant. With his passion for food and extensive experience, he continues to develop a place where culinary culture, community, and a love for food come together.

Since 1996, Uluç Telmen has created a unique dining experience at Halv Grek Plus Turk, a restaurant that blends Greek and Turkish flavors from the Eastern Mediterranean. From its beginnings in a banquet hall in Stockholm to a popular restaurant on Jungfrugatan, the concept has grown with a focus on simplicity, quality, and authenticity. Uluç's passion for food and ambiance has shaped a space where everything from mezze dishes to the interior design reflects his background and creativity.

“I grew up with the food I serve at the restaurant. My grandmother and mother were a big part of the kitchen in the early days, and their dishes shaped our menu. It’s food I’ve eaten at home and that our guests now appreciate,” says Uluç.

Halv Grek Plus Turk is one of our customers who, with support from the European Investment Fund (EIF), was able to secure a business loan with even better terms than usual. The program enables Froda to lend to small business owners to promote growth, equality, sustainable employment, and social inclusion in Europe.

Halv Grek Plus Turk offers a unique menu in Stockholm, inspired by simple, ingredient-based dishes from the Eastern Mediterranean. “I enjoy cooking with just a few ingredients – it should be simple but flavorful. At our restaurant, you eat several small dishes at the same time, mezze, which creates a palette of different flavors,” he explains.

A homely and bohemian interior

However, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Uluç recounts a fire that struck the restaurant, leading to financial difficulties. “One morning, the police called and said there was a fire at the restaurant. I rushed over and saw fire trucks and smoke-damaged premises. After the shock, there was a long process with the insurance company, but there wasn’t enough money to cover the damages.”

Great vibes and fantastic flavours

To solve the problem, Uluç turned to online financing solutions. “I found Froda and was immediately drawn to how straightforward and transparent it was. The website was appealing, and the process was quick and clear. It only required a few details, and soon I had the loan.”

What does the future hold for Halv Grek Plus Turk?

“I will continue to refine what we’ve built here. I don’t call it work anymore – it’s a hobby. I’m considering opening another restaurant, perhaps another Grekturken. We’ve always let things happen naturally, and I believe new opportunities will come up. I’m ready to seize them when they do.”

With his lifelong experience and love for food, Uluç Telmen has not only created a restaurant – he has built a place where culinary culture, community, and passion come together.
